Mini-Bikes
I worked for a client who wanted to sell mini-motorcycles (“pocket bikes”). There were three bikes in development.
The first was known as the “Phatty”. The Phatty prototype was already created and I was hired to reverse engineer the pocket bike and create the drawing plans for fabrication in China – over 100 pages.
The second bike was known as the “Chopper”. The client had a rough frame size and some illustrations on what he wanted but I was able to add a lot of creativity into the design and I am most proud of this bike. I created a full drawing set for fabrications for this bike as well – roughly 130 pages.
The third bike was known as the “Café Racer” but it was never put into production. The bike was about 80% complete and the client decided to hold on while the first two bikes went into production.
During the design process, the manufacturers in China asked us to design a custom cart for the assembly process. They requested that the bike frames could be cinched down to hold the bike in process, that there be a small tray to hold tools, and a larger tray at the bottom to hold the sub-assembly pieces.
