Space Armada

Who doesn't still enjoy playing with their childhood favorite toy? Legos were my absolute favorite childhood toy; I enjoyed designing and creating things from a very early age. This model was my last custom design before I stopped playing with toys with any considerable amount of time. I call this the "Space Armada" and it is one large space ship that separates into a total of four pieces.
I created this for two reasons. First, I cannot show off a lot of the projects I have created due to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA's). Second, legos lend themselves to a feature in Inventor that I do not get a lot of chance to use. This was created in Inventor Professional. In this program, it is possible to create something called "iParts" that will create the part on the fly as you insert it into an assembly based on your design specifications. I created an iPart called "block" that asks the user upon insertion into an assembly the width, length, height, and material of the piece; an advanced topic.
